Jacques and his Master
04 Description (not exceeding 50 words):
Jacques and his Master is a performance that, in an interesting way, re-examines the theme of predestination, but also answers the question of what the worst possible ending of human stories can be. In the play’s very text, the renowned Prague writer Milan Kundera offers his version of the novel Jacques the Fatalist by Denis Diderot, a philosopher from the 18th century. Therefore, the existing characters are ascribed with a new attitude towards their destiny. The idea for a scene design is derived from the theme of memory – retelling of an event when we open a variety of “drawers” in our head so that we can retell the event as clearly as possible. The memory space is perceived as a bare, raw construction scaffold which will continue to grow.

03 Project title:
Letters to Freedom
04 Description (not exceeding 50 words):
The backbone of this play are letters written in the period between the beginning of the First World War and 1918. Some of the letters were written by well-known persons of our history, and some by soldiers we have never heard of, or by mothers who have never managed to send them; some letters have never arrived at the desired address. The life of a small human being, an individual, is what constructs changes and historical events. As this is a historical theme, the idea for scene design, scenography arose from the process of thinking on how to integrate several historical periods into a single whole – by atmosphere. This project uses light to examine the atmosphere that will draw the viewers into stories.
