The Thread of Art is a thin and subtle line that connects the matching primordial need for creation before Picasso the Neanderthal and Pablo Picasso. It is the red line of genius and the madness of creative creation. There are thousands and thousands of years of human civilization between the two poles that close the circle”… Gradimir Smudja

The solo exhibition The Thread of Art includes selected comic boards from the eponymous comic book by Gradimir and Ivana Smudja, which was originally published in two volumes in France in 2012 and 2015 under the title Au fil del’Art 1 and Au fil de l’Art 2. Meanwhile in Serbia, System Comics released both works in a single comic book album in 2015. In addition, the exhibition is a Belgrade debut showing original comic boards from comic albums in which Smudja deals with the life and work of painters Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Vincent van Gogh, as well as the mouse-musician Mausart from the author’s text by Slobodan Jovanović. The exhibition is organized within the Salon of Contemporary Applied Art, Museum of Applied Art.
