THE FIFTH BIENNIAL OF STAGE DESIGN

THE FIFTH BIENNIAL OF STAGE DESIGN

09 - 27 September 2004

Exhibition Curator: Irena Šentevska
Programme coordinator: Milica Cukić, Senior Curator

Egon Savin, director

This Biennial of stage (theatrical scene) design, now for the fifth time organized by YUSTAT (Center for Stage Art & Technology) and by the Museum of Applied Art, was created with the intent to promote, improve, stimulate, develop and advance the creative and professional work in all areas linked to design, technique and technology, production, realization and promotion of theatrical projects and other stage happenings generally, and particularly the invisible arts and crafts without which a stage event could not exist.

The Biennial is an exhibition of the most successful works realized in the seasons 2002/3 and 2003/4, in five major categories (design of a stage event, applied stage art, craftsmanship, stage space, promotion of stage events) and more than 30 subcategories of the Biennial. No other exhibition in Serbia and Montenegro presents in one place such a broad spectrum of professions in the fields of design and technical production. In the official selection there are 470 works, and they are presented in the Catalog of the Biennial; the award-winning works, and a chosen part of the selection, are presented at the exhibition.
