During 2011, a wedding dress from the collection of Department for Costume and Textiles was treated in the Textile Conservation Workshop. It is the dress worn in 1878 by Draga Kandić at her wedding to Ljubomir Kovačević, historian and politician. The dress was donated to the collection by their daughter Milica Rakić, spouse of the poet and the diplomat Milan Rakić.
The conservation process consisted of taking the dress apart, mechanical cleaning, washing, drying, conservation of damaged areas, sawing the dress back to its original form and its preparation for the exhibition. The conservation was conducted by Marija Labudović Pantelić, and professional and practical aid was offered by the conservators from Ethnographic Museum and The Central Institute for Conservation.

The dress was displayed at the exhibition “Wedding Dresses in Serbia in the Second Half of the 19th and at the Beginning of the 20th Centuries, from the Collection of the Museum of Applied Art” held in the “Inkiostri” Gallery of the Museum, between September 22 and December 31, 2011.
