Snježana Pokos-Vujec  is a ceramics artist   from Varaždin, Croatia, who is exhibiting for the first time in Serbia. The exhibition titled Iskorak (Step Forward) will be presented to the Belgrade audience in the gallery Youth, Museum of Applied Art.

Artistic narrative of Snježana Pokos-Vujec is an intense creative search for new forms and new topics, i.e. a step towards the new and unknown. In her work she uses various techniques and production technologies, thus generating equally successfully large and miniature, robust and fragile works. Ceramics in her hands shows its true nature: that it is adaptable, timeless and therefore contemporary. The forms of her works are clean, and she often uses flat surfaces on which she writes messages, draws pictures or inserts elements of fine porcelain giving them a distinct meaning. Its lithophany, shaped in a deep thoughtfulness of form with photorealistic quality, when illuminated by backlight, can be compared with the effect of an image created by the chiaroscuro technique. By combining clay, which is in the function of a strong foundation material, and three-dimensional, gentle photosensitive porcelain husk plates, her works reveal all their stratification: these are complex studies of life at the micro and macro levels, containing the history of mankind and biological life in physical form.  Emphasizing that the renaissance of ceramics of the 21st century creates a completely autonomous artistic medium that can live exactly the same as all other fine arts.

The works of Snježana Pokos-Vujec are in the holdings of the Porcelain Museum in Riga (Latvia), the International Museum of Ceramic Art FuLe (Fuping, China), the Collection of Contemporary Ceramic Karameikon (Varaždin), the Collection of art workshopdance Plemenitaš (Lukovdol), the Collection of Miniatures of the Croatian Association of Artists Rijeka, the Collection “Mark Rothko Art Centre” (Daugavpils), in the Collection of Cultural Institutions “Ivan Matetić Ronjgov” (Ronjgi) and “Collection of Solidea Guerra” (Vodnjan).
