35th SALON OF ARCHITECTURE

We still have architecture… is the motto of the 35th Salon of Architecture to be held in the Museum of Applied Art, from the 27th of March until the 30th of April 2013.

In the past decades the Salon of Architecture has become a cult institution of the Belgrade architecture and cultural life by documenting, promoting and putting on the map architectural qualities, stimulating the strengthening of the identity of the profession, bringing together architects of various generations and fostering cooperation.

Preparation of this large exhibition dedicated to architecture every year sets new challenges and deliberations related to the significance and meaning of architecture here because architecture unmistakably and visibly reflects all what society in Serbia considers or does not consider important.

A large number of guests from the country and abroad will be represented within the frames of the attractive follow-up programme in addition to the competition part of the event. Many themes of significance for contemporary architecture and society will be opened and students and interested visitors will be given chance to share their experience within experimental and educative workshops.

There were 238 works sent for the 35th Salon of Architecture competition and the selection committee had decided that 141 works will be exhibited. There are 93 works eligible for awards.

Jury consisting of distinguished national and international architects (Maša Bratuša, Vesna Cagić Milošević, Radivoje Dinulović, Andrej Kalamar and Groydana Šišović) will present the prestigious Grand Prix as well as prizes within the categories: architecture, urbanism, interior, experiment and research, guest, publications.

Upon the proposal submitted by the Council of the Salon of Architecture (Slobodan Selinkić, Ilija Mikitišin, Ljiljana Miletić Abramović, Milena Obradović and Zorica Savičić) two new awards will be established and presented: those for architectural criticism and for photography.

Visitors will be offered opportunity to buy at reduced prices Museum publications related to contemporary architecture and design during the 35th Salon of Architecture.

Detailed information regarding the programme of the 35th Salon of Architecture will be available in good time via the web site of the Museum of Applied Art, www.mpu.rs.
