Anđela Micić: Metamorphosis of Individual and Collective Memory

PhD Art Project

Mentor: Marko Lađušić, full-time professor

Anđela Micić’s PhD art project researches the transposition process of the existing historical fragments and their modification into a certain artistic whole – either a drawing or a painting. The project itself is a kind of metamorphosis of a certain historical act, which is processed through retrospective analysis. Memory, as a theme, inevitably imposes the emotional experience of a photograph because the photograph itself was used as a carrier of memories. An important segment in this research, i.e., re-examination is the role of emotional memory. In addition to dealing with works’ visual characteristics, Anđela analyses and studies these works in relation to the socio-political, historical and social concept.

Anđela Micić processes the data she obtained many times. She uses various fine art techniques, reviews the same scene several times and builds its metamorphosis. Thus, she wishes to explore the forms of consciousness and subconsciousness, reminiscence and forgetfulness, and the way in which the artist can contribute to all these aspects through his/her work. The research was carried out both on the artist’s our own example and on the example of other, currently active artists.
