WORKSHOP DURING THE EXHIBITION
“Ah, those shoes!“

16 May – 31 December 2013

Ah, those shoes!

Thursday, 3rd October 2013 was the day when another art workshop accompanying the exhibition “Ah, hose shoes” was held. The senior school girls of the Grammar School “Ljuba Nenadović” Belgrade have been delighted with the exhibition display.

During the practical part of the workshop they made beautiful pieces of shoe models and sandals with heels decorated with puffs and feathers were their favourites ….

From the abundance of their creations we have chosen to represent achievements of Milica Blečić, Ksenija Mićić, Andrea Petrović and Jana Maksimović.

I explore, learn, discover…

The workshop was created as two-part event and t was executed in cooperation with Belgrade Children’s Cultural Centre.

The first part included examining of the exhibits – women’s shoes and children were given explanations as to the period of their making, their owners and the material used.

The second segment was designed as practical work under the general topic “I explore, learn, discover…” inspired by the set of exhibits, i.e. house footwear – slippers. Children used cardboard, textile, paper, ribbons, pearls….for making this kind of footwear.

Workshop hours:
3rd July 2013 at 12:30 h

Participants in the workshop:
Children of 5 to 13 years of age

House footwear

The first part of the workshop focuses on the theoretical approach: children are guided through the exhibition and explanations are given as to objects displayed – female shoes, the period they were made in, what influenced their design, who wore them and on which occasions these shoes were worn.

The oldest exhibits displayed at the “Ah, those shoes” exhibition will serve as inspiration to children to make “house footwear” during the second part of the workshop. They will make house footwear – slippers of cardboard, textile and paper, put together by glue and decoratively painted.

This educative workshop is designed to represent in a creative way to pre-school and school children footwear as applied art objects and possible context within a museum display.
