Džoja Ratković Gavela, illustrator and Timothy Byford, director and creator for children will speak at the opening ceremony to the exhibition «Illustrations from the Select Fables of Dositej Obradović Edition» by Predrag Todorović
The intention of “Dositej Obradović” Endowment was to familiarize children with fables through illustrations. It decided to publish some of them and thus by using pictures that talk and inspire children’s imagination to penetrate the very body of the fable as an instructive short tale with animals having human characteristics. Thereby the virtues of fables would be best depicted and the reader could speculate about who we are and what are our dispositions. Painter and illustrator Predrag Todorović by his masterful painting skills realized successfully and in a witty and imaginative way this creative task. The books were edited by Miodrag Maticki.
Predrag Todorović was born in Belgrade in 1967. He graduated in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1991. He accomplished his MA studies at the Department for Wall Painting – Mosaics in 1994 and has been member of ULUS (Association of Visual Artists of Serbia) since 1993. Predrag Todorović has the status of independent artist.
His works are kept in museums, galleries and private collections in the country and abroad. The artist exhibited his works in many solo and group exhibitions, most important of them being the October Belgrade Salon, Spring Exhibitions of ULUS, “Golden Pen” exhibitions , international exhibition of illustrations in Barcelona, international exhibition of illustrations in Bratislava, group exhibitions of mosaics, group exhibitions of water colours, etc. He is winner of several awards for illustration, water colours, and mosaics.
